Spirit Airlines is a Florida-based discount air carrier that broke ground on a $250 million headquarters building and business campus near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The seventh-largest carrier in the United States plans to add 225 additional jobs over the next five years. They have about 700 flights a day to 75 different destinations in 16 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and about 360 Spirit flights to Florida every day. The new headquarters have up to 500,000 square feet of planned space which will house around 1,000 airline employees who are holding office in their existing headquarters in Miramar, Florida. They are expected to move into their new home sometime in 2022.
